The Basilidean Gnostics were a Gnostic sect founded by Basilides of Alexandria in the 2nd century. This sect was comprised of three grades: material, intellectual and spiritual. Male and female allegorical statues were also revered. The members of this Gnostic sect also wore stones or gems cut into various symbols.
Perhaps the most important distinguishing characteristic of the Basilidean Gnostics is their worship of a supreme god named Abrasax, the great ruler of the 365 heavens in Basilidean teaching.
The Mystic Christ
